I've noticed that there's *lots* of info on the Net on the PhilipsDVP642 player.

Yesterday I was at Best Buy. I had already purchased a CyberHome DVR
1600, which apparently has audio/video sync problems and which I plan on
returning if I can't resolve this issue. Upon further reflection, I'm
thinking of just getting a regular DVD player; I don't plan on doing
tons of recording anyway (besides, I still have a VCR).

The machine that caught my eye was a Philips DVP3040. I've been
researching this model, but can't get anywhere near the volume of
information as I can the DVP642.

Is it reasonable to assume that the DVP3040 is more or less the newer
version of the DVP642? Does anyone have any experience with this unit?
 What about a/v sync?
