As the others have said, don't even think about getting a capture card,
go with digital. And with any digital camera, including MiniDV, you
don't need a capture card.

As for your "tapeless camcorder" there are several on the market under
$1,000 that use 30 GB hard drives (or larger). Google up Everio from
JVC. There are other companies doing it too.
