For one thing, you'll get 10Hz flicker anywhere that's lit with

Hardly: PAL is 50Hz, NTSC is 60Hz, it's far from trivial to convert
between the two as you have to either remove frames or create fake
frames. One of the main reasons I bought a Sony Z1 is that it can shoot
both.

I wouldn't myself... shooting NTSC in a PAL country just doesn't make
much sense.
