Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of ASCENSION, THE BEING, THE CRAZY
STRANGER, DRAGONHEAD, GATCHAMAN: VOLUMES 1-4, GREG DOUGLASS: GUITAR
LESSONS: LEAD GUITAR, and RUNE SOLDIER: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION:
ASCENSION (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall score 79/100):
"The film's plot, setting, characters, and tone are so blatantly
similar to Stanislaw Lem's great speculative science fiction novel,
Solaris, one has to wonder if the possibility of legal action wasn't a
big part of the reason Krawlzik had so much difficulty finding
distribution for the film."

THE BEING (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 80/100):
"The Being is essentially a cautionary tale, warning of the results of
tampering with nature and how if you dump toxic waste into rivers, you
will get your head ripped off by a slimy, one-eyed anthropomorphic
bratwurst."

THE CRAZY STRANGER (reviewed by Russell Engebretson, overall
score 85/100):
"For an hour and a half, I was immersed in a cinematically believable
alien culture and entertained by the music, dances, and acting."

DRAGONHEAD (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 78/100):
"Just trying to describe Dragonhead is a challenge. It's almost like a
blend between Mad Max, Apocalypse Now, and Lord of the Flies. The
setting is both desolate and beautiful, a post-nuclear wasteland of
floating ash, shattered cities and glowing red light. The cinematography
creates a landscape of loneliness and desperation, which brilliantly
sets the tone of the film."

GATCHAMAN: VOLUMES 1-4 (reviewed by Mike Pinsky, overall score 81/100):
"These Science Ninjas are honestly not much up on science, but they sure
know how to ninja. Razor-sharp darts, killer yo-yos, deadly bolos --
plus acrobatic martial arts that make Cirque du Soleil look like
quadriplegics."

GREG DOUGLASS: GUITAR LESSONS: LEAD GUITAR (reviewed by Russell
Engebretson, overall score 90/100):
"Greg Douglass plays with deliberate slowness and explains what he is
doing every step of the way. He could show off his virtuosity (as I have
seen some other instructors do) with blazing runs and intricate licks,
but he opts to teach rather than dazzle."

RUNE SOLDIER: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION (reviewed by Rob Lineberger,
overall score 72/100):
"Will you be interested in Rune Soldier? You may be, if you keep your
expectations at a minimum and enjoy the simplicity of this 'lark a week'
comedy anime."
