If you used 35mm for this, you'd probably get gateweave when you
telecined it, so that against the electronic bit at the bottom it would
look odd. So shooting on tape is really more sensible as well as
considerably cheaper.

I seem to be living in a parallel world to the other contributors to
this thread (which is why I keep writing) in that it seems to me that
what matters here is selling your products, not how compressed HDV is.
Compression or lack of it won't pay your mortgage. I get the
impression that maybe your promo is for the shop window, so you might
want something that has a reasonable number of eye-catching images of
what you sell, and something that quickly and clearly tells people what
your unique selling point is over BestBuy - good service and support
maybe? Whatever - the sort of tape you use is much much less important
than decent sales idea.

....and to the other contributors - this is rec.video.production so I
thought it would be worth talking about production just a bit......
