For eons M.B. makers have been reluctant to do clever programming
for their M.B. I/O ...
It is so bad , people sometimes blame Windows.
And some M.B. makers have earned a reputation for solving
these problems , but they still recieve little attention from the
budget
M.B. users .
IWILL of Taiwan boots their old XA-100 with Linux . Not saying
Linux
is great but that IWILL had big troubles even developing their BIOS
using anything Microsoft ( C+ et al ) .
They "tried" harder and found Linux was far less trouble
in BIOS customization on the chip set .
Still no light at end of tunnel , M.B.'s are still using such obtuse
hardware
compared to the future PC's ( using ARM S.O.C.'s ).
ASUS and GIGBYTE are low cost M.B.'s ...
My A7V600 would absolutely LOCK , NO BOOT ! Cleared the CMOS to
make it limp along ....
Anyone downloading a BIOS upgrade is admitting they did not
get it right at first , so why do you expect them to get it right now
?!!
If they recall the M.B. maybe you can trust them , but certainly not
"stringing" you along thru 5 upgrades !!
