A monopoly is not what ebay is. A monopoly is when there is only one option
for a given service. If you lived in New York and the only option for Cars
is Ford, thats a monopoly. (Alittle simplified) Ebay has many competitors
its just that they aren't effective in advertising and drawing people to
their service. Its pretty sad when the majority of sellers chose a service
that charges them as opposed to a free service. Proves ebay is doing
something right. Capitalism is what ebay is doing, and until someone comes
up with a better service, advertises, and draws customers to it, ebay will
continue to thrive. If you, or Yahoo, have an idea for a new, better
service than perhaps you should impliment it. Everything must come to an
end, eventually ebay will be old hat and someone will step forward and
replace it as the auction site "superpower." If Yahoo can unseat ebay from
the thrown so be it, but I haven't seen any evidence at this point that they
have a snowballs chance in hell.
