Hello,
Looking to make my first prosumer video camera purchase for some
freelance video production work. 4:3 SD is fine to start with, I'm more
focused on picture quality, good controls, and good platform to learn
on. I expect my work to be more of the corporate/promotional video
type, not weddings or sports.
I'd been looking almost exclusively at the DVC-30, as it's a good
price, would appear to meet most of my needs, and is well-rated.
However, an office contact made a big deal about the limitations of the
1/4-in CCDs and recommended getting something larger, if possible. He
also said that he had a contractor who raved about his VX2100.
So, now I'm looking at that, too. Counting the current $200
promotion on the Panasonic, the price difference (from a reputable shop)
is about $600, which I can swallow, I think. The Sony's larger CCDs are
attractive, as is the better on-camera mic placement, ND filters, and
focus/zoom rings.
Any thoughts on comparing these two? Are there reasons to stick with
the DVC-30? Are the upgrades on the VX2100 worth the $600?
Thanks,
Todd
