You shouldn't need to rip anyway. The videos (.DAT) are nearly
compatible with standard MPG. In most cases, you can simply copy off
of the VCD, rename the extension to MPG, encode them to MP2 if you
desire, then you can author and burn DVD. If the program you use
complains about the file's format you could use TMPGEnc to do a quick
remux to clean it up.
