Still be illegal though. What is the title you're after? Play started
listing everything from certain studios as RCE to cover their arses a few
years back. RCE hasn't been widely used for a long time. As it stands, the
Pioneer DV444 was usually modified by flashing the firmware with one that
allows you to select the default region in addition to its auto-detection
routines. If you set the default region to R1 it 'hard-codes' the player to
think it's R1, and it will report itself as such to any RCE title. Try this
to set the default region:
Turn On unit and remove any disc in the tray
Press the Setup button on the remote control.
Move over to General using the arrow keys
Select Basic
Press Display - this will display your region and firmware version.
Press Condition/Memory (nothing is displayed or changed on the screen)
Press the Region # required (i.e. 2 for Region 2 etc)
Press Menu to store
