An auto-mod just does the switching automatically, i.e. no user intervention
required. My newer Pioneer DV-370 plays RCE without any of the mucking about
needed on the DV-444. Do you have any region one Sony/Columbia discs? I can
tell you if any of them are RCE. For example, Spider-Man is. Final Fantasy
is another.
