I don't know about the mail order prices because I haven't shopped
around for those yet, but as far as the price I quoted, yes I am
certain. You may not be familiar since you are in the UK, but we have a
small chain store on the west coast called Fry's and that is the price
they are selling it for. Just saw it the other day. They have the
Cannon xl-2 for $3900, and right next to that one is the Sony at $3600.
I don't know if their on-line prices are the same but if you really
want to buy that camera, check out outpost.com, that is their online
portal. Just as a side note, I can't believe you guys in UK pay 17.5%
sales tax. We pay 7.75% and I think that is high enough. Prices always
depend on the market. The more of any product that sells in an area the
cheaper it will be. There will also be more competition driving down
prices.
