In the real world of production a first generation Beta SP tape is encoded
into an Avid via component hookup. I still rate this format (far) superior
to DV.
Yes, 1 inch is just about dead but every production house must have one
working machine for playback. And your right, "working" is the key word
here. But the image is pretty darn good.
And while we're agreeing to disagree I'd also put 3/4 ahead of Hi8 and SVHS.
There is more to a TV image than pure resolution.
