For my low usage I tried other makes of mikes, and whether they're fitted
with Faraday cages or not, I've no idea, but only found a problem, mains
hum, when filming more or less directly beneath the 25kV overhead lines on
the WCML. Until I mounted them via an anti-vibration mount, I did find that
they picked up motor noise of my MiniDV camera.
What I find very disappointing is that the price of the MKE 300 has risen
sharply over the years, and is now much higher in relation to typical
camcorder prices than about a decade ago. (But that's typical of gear still
manufactured in Europe!)
