First of all you should just flush Avid/Pinnacle Liquid from your mind.
You will do far better with the Adobe production suite of software.
Adobe is supported by many 3rd party hardware and plugin manufacturers
which may be of interest further down the line. I would advise very
strongly against getting caught in the closed shop of Avid.
Liquid was a reasonable product several years ago when Fast first
developed it. Since then Pinnacle got their grubby hands on it and it
has languished with a very poor interface that is in desperate need of
bringing into the 21st C. Avid have done nothing to it other than put
their branding on it.
Premiere Pro2.0 has undergone a massive transformation. Adobe has woken
up and got serious about their NLE. It has little or nothing in common
with the derided application of yore. The Adobe PS offers extremely
good integration between all applications in the suite. There are some
huge time savings to be had with intelligent use of the integrated
approach of the suite.
You will shoot yourself in the foot on many different levels if you buy
Liquid.
If you are primarily a DVD authoring shop I would strongly urge you
consider Final Cut Studio on the Mac. DVD Studio Pro is an awesome
application and to find a superior product you'd have to sell your house
and buy Scenarist.
Wit the Mac now being a PC you can boot easily into windows if you have
a lot of PC software that you utilise.
Avoid Liquid....
