The 3550 came in today. Stuck it in, updated the firmware using NEC's
flash utility (drive had version 1.05, update was 1.06) and then
test-ripped a double-layer DVD. Average rip speed: 8.2x. Max rate:
12.0x. I'd say this drive is a keeper. Now I have to do a burn to see
if it's as good that way.
