The workflow might be smoother but if he likes the Liquid editing
features better than it might be an preferable alternative. It is
entirely subjective based on the individual's priorities.

Most of these software packages are just that - packages with
individual components. Someone using Avid on a Mac still may prefer
DVD Studio Pro to Avid's DVD authoring tools and someone using Vegas or
Pinnacle might prefer using Encore to author DVDs. It is more
expensive that way but in effect the same as many PC users preference
in putting together a system themselves rather than buy a prepackaged
box, although often they can actually SAVE money that way. Lord knows
I've never bought a stereo system that wasn't purchased one component
at a time.

I guess it would be a subjective version of skimming the cream.
