It's not a direct correlation. Even if the cost of stamping Blu-Ray was
double that of HD DVD, I wouldn't expect the final price to be twice as
much. Studios could simply absorb most or all of the extra cost and make
less per disc. It wouldn't be the most desirable of decisions, but
considering that they'd want to stay competitive with HD DVD, and that
films already recoup so much money from DVDs, it's certainly something they
could do.
But really, this is all speculation, since we don't have prices on actual
Blu-Ray discs, and don't know the actual costs for it, or for HD DVD for
that matter.
