SHOP OF HORRORS, THE MIDNIGHT BLUE COLLECTION: PORN KING, MY BABY IS
BLACK! / CHECKERBOARD, NATE AND HAYES, ROCK N ROLL SPACE PATROL ACTION
IS GO, THE SECRET OF DR. KILDARE, and THE SIN SYNDICATE / SHE CAME ON
THE BUS / SIN MAGAZINE:
ALMOST YOU (reviewed by Steve Evans, overall score 67/100):
"In a world full of problems and people worth caring about, a film
should at least present individuals with unusual problems (or unusual
ways of solving them). Marital angst among the smug and upwardly
mobile just isn't the stuff of compelling drama, at least not as
presented here."

CANDY STRIPERS (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 76/100):
"Man, watching beautiful women vomit up green masses of goo, that never
gets old."

THE DEVIL'S BLOODY PLAYTHINGS (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall
score 35/100):
"Can anything actually be gained by comparing and contrasting the cinema
of the man who made Chinatown and Knife in the Water with that of the
man who made Bikini Girls on Dinosaur Planet and Lust in the Mummy's
Tomb? Man, I was actually about to go through with it. What could I have
been thinking?"

JAPON: DIRECTOR'S UNRATED EDITION (reviewed by Brendan Babish, overall
score 70/100):
"Japon is a deliberately paced film. I never really understood that
term. I've always thought there was deliberation about the pace of
most films. But apparently, deliberation only goes into films that are
slow, ponderous and challenging to watch. Japon is certainly all three
of those."

THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall
score 85/100):
"The acting is hammy, the story is goofy, nothing in it is scary and we
laugh at all the wrong moments. In other words, it's a blast for fans of
old, low-budget horror flicks."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/littleshophorrors.php
THE MIDNIGHT BLUE COLLECTION: PORN KING (reviewed by Paul Corupe,
overall score 79/100):
"This fifth release, Midnight Blue: Porn King, is a major change of
pace. It's a bittersweet documentary by director James Guardino about
the downfall of Screw, Midnight Blue, and Goldstein himself, who went
from riches to rags in just a few short years."

MY BABY IS BLACK! / CHECKERBOARD (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
score 88/100):
"While the skin is minimal and the loving is left to a sensual embrace
or two (and a sequence of suggestive toe wrestling), My Baby is Black!
and Checkerboard are reminders of a time when segregation set the social
agenda and Caucasians would rather lynch than switch."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/blackcheckerboard.php
NATE AND HAYES (reviewed by Mac McEntire, overall score 72/100):
"It's a straightforward action flick. It's hardly original, but there's
still plenty of fun to be had here."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/nateandhayes.php
ROCK N ROLL SPACE PATROL ACTION IS GO (reviewed by David Johnson,
overall score 71/100):
"Should you buy it? Probably not, but if your senile grandmother bought
it for you for Christmas, I don't think you'll spend the rest of the
month hating her."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/rnrspacepatrol.php
THE SECRET OF DR. KILDARE (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score
81/100):
"Forged at a time when doctors where underpaid saints in surgical garb,
gregarious and altruistic in their desire to play God and cure patients,
The Secret of Dr. Kildare is actually a decent little Hippocratic hoot."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/secretdrkildare.php
THE SIN SYNDICATE / SHE CAME ON THE BUS / SIN MAGAZINE (reviewed by Bill
Gibron, overall score 86/100):
"Females have their sisters in feminism to thank for their eventual
emancipation from the shackles of male domination -- and pornographic
paternalism. After watching the trio of tawdry tales here, it's clear
that said liberation was a tad late in arriving."
