VHS tracks are six times wider than DV tracks, and nearly ten times
wider than DV-LP tracks. Needless to say, that means DV tracks a damn
sight harder to follow than VHS.
This is why you should never record in LP mode unless you know it's
only ever going to be played on the same deck that recorded it: and,
even then, playback isn't guaranteed. You might get lucky and find
another deck which can play it without dropouts, but the odds aren't
good.
