Perhaps I'm not searching intelligently, but I can find almost zero
matches on the whole web for DVP5490. Did you transpose a digit or
something?
By the way, since posting my original request, I've bought two Philips
642's. They do the job. A 45-minute, 350MB AVI file downloaded from
Bittorrent looks great.
One came without one of its little rubber feet at the bottom, and I
got a chance to learn firsthand how crappy Philips's customer service
is (via phone or the web). After 10 minutes or more of phone
navigating, I was told, "Sorry, we don't seem to have that part. Call
back in a couple days and ask again... No, we can't take your order
now anyway."
The remote is also a little weird and unresponsive. But the units do
what I need them to, and they're between $50 (Circuit City, purchased
online and picked up at a store) and $65 (Amazon.com) or so.
So, what is the "DVP5490?" Do you have a URL for it?
