Well, they have a higher bit-rate so potentially less compression
artifacts. But they're still 720x480 or 720x576 rather than 1920x1080,
so they'll never look anywhere near as good as a true HD image.

Of course most people are watching their 'HD' video on crappy 1280x720
LCDs, which aren't that much better than PAL in the first place.
1920x1080 has more than twice as many pixels.
