What you have described is a serious drawback from the point of view of the  
manufacturers.  I doubt that any company will do what you suggest--put more  
time on the disc.  Time is what they're selling.  A single HD DVD with 4  
times as much program material will have to sell for as much as 4 DVDs. 
 
Have you ever wondered why 4-CD sets are never sold as a single DVD?    It  
certainly is possible.  I've burned DVDRs with anywhere from 6 to 160 hours  
of music, depending on compression choice.
