Blu-ray will win because:
1. There are a lot more studios behind it. HD-DVD will NOT have Disney,
Sony, MGM, Lionsgate and other movies!!!! If you buy HDDVD, your choce
of movies is VERY limited.
2. The manufacturers of Blu-ray are VERY big names like Samsung, Sony,
Panasonic, Phillips, etc. Toshiba is a lot smaller than any of these
companies.
3. Toshiba is LOSING money on each and evry HDDVD player it sells. It
cannot hope to outlast the Big Blu-ray manufacturers.
4. HDDVD sales are very lackluster so far even though the players cost
a lot less than Blu-ray. Studios like Warner have already announced
they will be cuttting titles produced in HDDVD. HDDVD is a DYING
format. The titles of HDDVD in amazon.com are doing badly compared to
blu-ray movies like Terminator.
5. Toshiba's brand name recognition is WAY below the brand name
recognition of Samsung, Sony, etc. Toshiba produces CHEAP
laptops...need i say more?
6. Blu-ray can potentially store up to 200 GB of data in ONE disc! TDK
already has a 100 GB disc being tested. HDDVD has only 30 GB of
storage.
7. Blu-ray can run actual PROGRAMS using Java, the same application
programming platform that runs your cellphone/PDA games/apps and SIM
cards. This means MUCH richer interactivity capabilties than HDDVD.
Comparing Blu-ray to HDDVD is like comparing a full-fledged application
like Microsoft Word or Office, or DOOM to a small flash game running on
your browser.
8. With the release of PSP3, the number of blu-ray audience will
immediately become several fold larger than HDDVD. The few studios
using HDDVD will abandon it and flock to Blu-ray.
