Anyone out there have any experience with RealProducer 11?

I use my tv tuner card regularly, archiving shows on my hard drive in
mpeg 2 format. Lately, I've been compressing these files using Nero
Digital. I can get the file size down to around 250 megabytes per hour
of video without any noticeable loss of clarity.

Recently, I was over at a friend's house, and watched a 45 minute tv
episode he had there. It was very clear, and I learned that it was a
downloaded RealVideo file. It was only about 65 megabytes in size!
The clarity rivaled the 250 Megabyte Mpeg 4 file I got from Nero
Digital.

Since then, I have downloaded the free "RealProducer 11 Basic" from
Real's website. It isn't the most user friendly program, but I was
able to convert an avi file to their format with no problems. However,
every time I try to convert my mpeg 2 files, I get two problems:

1) Both screens show "audio only", as if it thinks there is no video in
my file

and

2) When I run the conversion, I get an error message saying it couldn't
start the conversion

The funny thing is, if I use a utility to convert that same mpeg 2 file
to avi, I can easily use RealProducer 11 to convert it then. It just
takes so much extra time and hard drive space doing it that roundabout
route that I'm hoping I am overlooking something simple here. Has
anyone else run into this sort of issue before?
