BTW William Davis, the fact that you provided us with a salutation which
states "Off to LA for my lecture tomorrow . . " indicates the types to which
I was referring - - academia - - stuffies wherein I managed to last almost
three whole years before I realized how far away from the "real world" they
actually were and ran as quickly as I could before it rubbed off and I might
resemble them (as in "I resemble that remark" :o).
Once I made my determination they were all space cadets (that is there head
is pushed so far up in the clouds with their fueled pride that they couldn't
see planet earth) much like an acquaintence Wernher Von Braun stated, "they
can't see the trip to the moon because the moon is in the way and because
there are too many politicians blocking the view." His words resound in
your opinion of high regard academia and credentials.
Don't get me wrong, I too am a fan of higher education, but note I said
Higher Education and not college/university, because most of Higher
Education doesn't come from there it is either merely inspired there or it
is lost there. My son goes to college and is among the top in his class but
he doesn't study and he hates college. If he were to study, would it be
better for him to be a Phi Betta Kappa? You would probably say, that would
make him a fine man. Your wrong, I know a lot of stuck up smucks that are
thusly the academia to which you ascribe as be credentially sound. On the
other hand, my son would give you the shirt off his back and his last dollar
if you needed it and in my book that makes him a GREAT MAN!
You said something very bad about that young man who offered to allow us to
take the cost of our losses out of his paycheck for his recommendations on
Apple/Mac solutions that failed, but I tell you this, when I'm in a foxhole
late at night in Vietnam, alone, and separated from our troops (as I was for
nearly two and half years) I'd take that young man with me and trust him to
protect me till the end of his life and you can bet he knows I'd do it for
him.
William, you have something to learn about people and character. Telling of
who you are in this news group isn't what makes you qualified or good - -
Listening and telling what you do know and helping to educate the community
is good. To that end, I've tried to share with folks to BEWARE of the sales
hype and SUPPOSED high quality products, services and tech support of
Apple/Mac products BECAUSE it simply IS NOT TRUE! Apple/Mac just happens to
be one of the few single source responsibility companies on the planet and
although they do a decent job they have a lot of failures and the failures
are misserable AND most Apple/Mac users won't admit it. Moreover, you don't
see a lot of Apple/Mac complaints because there aren't many, it's because
there aren't nearly as many out there as there are Windows/PC solutions, the
later of which there are zillions of tons of them and thus the noise and
issues will be surmountable compared to a few macs on doing the same task by
comparison.
William, good luck on your "lecture" hope your do a good job selling
whatever it is that you sell, and I hope the audience is able to SEE the
difference between academia/sales/truth.
Respectfully,
DrD
