Hello,
have been using Itunes to manage a large amount of
tunes (about 77000).
The problem I had is simple, that iTUNES program is so slow, it takes
40-45 seconds just to open on a 1600 Mhz PC with 1 gig of ram.
And once there the usual operations of filtering by asking <beatles> or
<beethoven> takes forever, I got feddup and decided to make my own.
What I don't understand is why is it that Winamp takes 2-3 seconds to
open even with a LARGE list and ITunes takes forever to do that
same thing. ?????
I compiled all the tunes I have using winamp, it created a file
containing most of the tags and then I use a simple Unix script
to make a file in the winamp.m3u format.
The program is simple whenever I ask for <beethoven> <quartet>
and <piano> it makes a file containing just that, then I just have to
click on the
file and <voilà> it plays.
The total time to do that is : 2 seconds.
My question is, ok my list is 11 megs and if I would like to add all
the <tags> then it will make a list of what 20 megs, so we are still
talking about 3
seconds of processing time to make a list and to open winamp
and PLAY the !$#$#$#@! music.
WHY IS ITUNES SO SLOW!??, what are you using to program at Apple
??
I am just a moderate hacker and I do not consider to be a top
programmer
but if me can do it in 2-3 seconds then what kind of guys do program
for Apple ??
cows? martians ? on which planet are you guys ?
