hmmmmm, "you've never found me to be civil" ???

i've never so much as took a foul word at anyone in this group. i have made
comments that's for sure but even when they told me to put it where the sun
don't shine (civil version) i responded kind and with the truth.

that, "the never found to be civil" part i do take offense. because i've
always tried to be fair and even loose when confronted with oppostion among
friends. and the way apple/mac treated me, i don't consider them friends.
even when pinnacle could not make one of their products work for us, they
not only admitted it, they refunded our money even though we bought it from
a retailer. it's for that reason that we made a second pinnacle purchase
(something we would have done with apple/mac too) and found their second and
third products astounding fabulous. both apple and mac's tech support were
snobbish and had little interest in solving our problem past the 10th or
11th call. up through number 5 or 6 they were OK but therein the whole
"working together" routine went amiss. on about the 14th call they hung up
on our tech (that's the guy that actually recommended apple and mac to us
because he was a biggie apple/mac user/supporter) and when they did that,
i'll never forget the look on his face, it looked like he'd just received
the worse news of his life then he dropped the phone from his head and
looked me straight in the eye and said, "get a pc and anything other than
apple software and take this whole apple/mac loss out of my check. i am so
sorry boss. but make the payments small i need something to live on." i
nearly burst out laughing but instead wanted to cry because of the cartoon
look on his face and because of his loyality to us.

he personally dumped his mac a short time after our solution with pc but
more importantly, when i ordered the software from pinnacle he questioned me
to which i responded with, "look, they helped us right?" <yep> "they never
gave up right?" <yep> "they admitted defeat and refunded our money when it
didn't work right?" <yep> "that's all we ask from anyone, is help,
assistance, and some kind of guarntee"

when we ordered avid's software he shouted for glory after installing and
using it and his words were, "i'll never touch a mac as long as i live
except to pitch it in the river." he has since convered at least half a
dozen of his geeky friends to pc's that were mac's and helped us convince
three of our co-op shops to pc's (2 were having so much complications with
their client outputs that they were probably going to switch anyways) and
who knows how much damage to apple/mac otherwise. his best line is one of
several above his desk which reads, "No Wrotten Apples Here!" i've stolen
that line on a few occassions.

so, where you all might be swamped with apple/mac config's but where we are
apple/macs are not only few but growing fewer by the day. a friend of mine
in chicago says that apple/macs are falling there too along with the DFW
area (as told to him by a mutual friend although that friend is much closer
to him than I) and while i don't know the facts for his area and/or DFW
area, i do know ours. our people have few macs and those that do don't like
them for numerous reasons that i won't bore you with unless asked.

later, the civil man,

DrD
