Rig someting (secure!) to hang the camera from.
Suspend it just above the ground as you walk
along beside the actor. It will take a few tries to
get the movement smooth.
Alternately, you could go someplace with lots of
flat space and zoom in on the actor from a fixed
position and pan to follow their action.
I'd try to shoot at least 15-20 seconds worth if
I need 5 good seconds.
