Look at the Oppo:

Player is one of the best upconverter and has great Dolby 5.1 audio.
If one has a 720p/1080i DVI/HDMI compatible TV it is an obvious
consideration, or if one is considering an upgrade in the near future.
Can be made region free with a simple hack:

Plays NTSC and PAL disks.
Many, many great reviews available on this player. One could spend
many hundreds more than this $200 on a lesser player.
I have not tested all of the compatibilities that this player is
supposed to support, but can attest to the PAL/NTSC compatibily.
