Actually not. DVDs were not immediately accepted by most LD owners.
Then it was clear that it was a better format. Whoopie Doo. It was
YEARS after LD hit the market, and we (LD Owners) made it a huge
success from the manufacturers POV, and even the studios saw the
potential, or you wouldn't even have DVD right now, dipshit.
>for even better picture and sound, more durable media (no laser rot) and

I have ZERO LDs with laser rot, and I have over 200 titles.

You're a goddamned idiot. I never paid $80 to $100 for LD. The only
time I bought an expensive release was a criterion version of a film
(available for $29.95) that I WANTED the enhanced version of.
That is no different than today. The fact is that disc prices came
down because they are destined to. Basic business. It gets better,
and yet ends up cheaper. Sometimes entry into a market starts out a
little higher priced. As far as I see it, nothing has changed. Every
product I ever saw followed the same model.
You guys are fucking lost in the mire of thinking that one will win
and you will have bought into the wrong one. Sorry, but these
manufacturers are in it for the long haul, and the studios WILL press
discs because it is in their best interests (MONEY) to do so.
My prediction is that they will both survive, and the makers will
capitulate to the studios so that pressings of both media can be made
available to the masses.
Y'all can kiss my ass.
