The good stuff (Taiyo-Yuden) costs only a few cents
more than the questionable stuff (literally). I've had
people complaining about any other brand I've tried,
but I've never had a complaint about T-Y.
Beware that some unscrupulous vendors will claim
to sell T-Y, but ship you some lower-quality junk.
I buy all my stock from www.supermediastore.com
I use +R after researching the compatibility lists on
www.dvhelp.com Others may not agree, but it works
for me.
