You can now find scrims that are more versatile than sharkstooth,
better projection surfaces, possible to hang in panels and capable of
special effects and secret entrances...and they are affordable on a
show budget--not just a capital budget. Check out:

Also good for large scale light diffusion for beach shoots (use
Chameleon), and for selective diffusion for videography (use
StudioCloth).
Full scenic painting is even available, as are rentals.
