Interesting. The only hard drive I've ever had fail was the very first one I
ever bought, a Seagate 20MB drive about 20 years ago. Since then, none of
failed. But then, I don't do video editing and the largest hard drive I ever
bought is the almost empty 160GB in my current PC. Since the PC is a Dell
(bad mistake on my part), I expect it to fail soon after the warranty is
over.

Even if I didn't, I'd still back up religiously. Spector's First Law of
Computing: Never have only one copy of anything.
