Re: what production tools do you use?

wow you'd never convince my crew to rent. they want to OWN everything. we
have two rigs with our sister operation and although we do tv broadcast (two
regular shows currently) medium to large nationally recognized events
including music (yuck - they're hard to work with - love the music but hate
working with them - they're all full of a lot of hot ballon air and are in
space most of the time) and the sister audio side does at least 1 to 3 high
end multi-audio mixes a month with 2 yamaha big channel portable mixers and
up to 3 dozen speakers (12" minimum) driven by up to 10 2000 Watt Crown amps
none of which (the audio side) makes a dime of net profit for our businesses
but drives the video business which is our principle bottom green liner.

on the vid side we use all panasonic dv proline cameras (don't have the 200
yet), a small sundry of avid software packages, gateway commercial dual core
and dual processor machines (3 of them now), all shure & sennheiser mics and
only carry $20K of debt.

every thing is moved in mini vans (used with our names on them) and all of
our crews in video are full time while all the audio crews other than ONE
key man are part timers who basically would work for free just to get to be
on the sets/stages and if it we had to pay them much more than $8/hr and
eats after every show (no booze at all allowed) then the audio side would be
a loss.

there ya have it - - and not bad considering we came back for a total wash
out loss in 1999 including loosing our home and my new car :o(

respectfully, from the loser himself,

drd
