I would not give a DVD -or- a hard drive to a Two Year Old,
(or you either it appears). Properly stored off-line, (with the heads
locked in a safe area) most drives can take quite a bit more of a
jar than you seem to realize. If you insist on putting your drives
on 8 Ft high shelves you might consider some carpeting and using
laptop drives rated 100Gs or more.
