That may not be quite as silly a statement as you think. Anything that
can be achieved with FCP can also be done with Premiere Pro, especially
in its astonishingly capable 2 version. Doesn't mean to say that some of
the more complex and demanding image processing won't have to be
completed on some specialist systems, but the greater part of most
movies could indeed be done on such low cost and accessible devices.
There's is a wishful legacy culture still asserted by the
inappropriately invested and other vested interest groups that seeks to
disrepute these new upstarts, but their aspirations in this respect are
doomed. The whole business of production at every level and the business
models associated with distribution platforms and presumptions of the
publics taste are going to be impacted despite the futile rear guard
position taken by some dinosaurs. It's a brave new and very much
levelling world we about to enter.
