Id just like to add that listening to 80DB
directly into ears will cause permanent hearing damage
over an 8 hr period.

I recommend you keep the overall volume going into
your ears at something less then 80db sound pressure
or you will eventually aquire tinnitis which is
a never ending ringing of the ears.

Mine was brought on by shooting handguns without hearing protection
and after studying this in some detail feel all people
should protect their hearing all their life.

I suspect contrary to popular belief that
the sensory hairs are damaged making them
sensitive to a stimulous that is way above
normal hearing and possibly brownian motion
of the liquid which immerse the hairs
in the Choclea are the source of never ending ringing.
Since the hairs damaged are at the frq lost
that is why the ringing is at that frq.
Whatever stimulates the damaged sensor hairs
will give the brain the indication that
the lost freqs are present.
There is a quality/sensitivity issue which
seems to be the intensity of ringing which
I believe is totally subjective in nature.

Most experts think no signals are sent to the brain
and the brain is just fabricating the sound
to make up for a total loss of sensory input at that freq.

I disagree because i have worked with sophisticated
machines that can usually be fooled playing with
various inputs and have found a human to be much
like a machine and it too can be fooled into seeing
and feeling and hearing and tasting things outside
their normal ranges after being damaged.

All this tells me that people can be tortured in ways
by modern technology that we have not evolved
to defend ourselves against.
Especially if our liberties are violated
and we can not be free to defend ourselves.

Keep the volume as low as possible and still enjoy.
Never exceed 80DB of sound pressure measured at
whatever is the standard.
