 Just my 10 pence worth, but I bought the R1 Matrix as soon as it was
 available, back in 1999 or whenever... and even then I was put off by the
 grainy look of the film.  Didn't look great at all.
 
 More recently, I saw the remastered version in the new Matrix 10 disk
 boxset, which can be had for about 18, and it looks brilliant.
 Nice clean image, I just thought it was a shame they'd gone to all the
 trouble with the video quality, and not made a good DTS track while they
 were at it.
 Anyway, if you get the remastered version, it does look a LOT better.
