..nod Various embellishments, arpeggiating etc. on a particular vowel, but I
made up my own term for it since what they do seems to follow a distinctive
(and irritating) stylistic path of its own. I could probably call it "urban
melisma". Non-musicians might not know what I'm talking about.
It drives me nuts that so many female singers fall into it. I can't stand
listening to Christina Aguilera because of it. She has a great vocal
instrument, but it just sounds so contrived.
