I wasn't sure they were such a player anymore. After KaZaa weighted
itself down with so much spyware, I moved on to other p2p networks. I
went through WinEx, which was pretty good because you had lots of users
and you could get some really off-the-wall stuff. But it had this
queuing mechanism, and you could be as far down as 99th in someone's
queue. Now I use Limewire.
But I want to talk about their statistics. Most people who use those
things aren't downloading just music. They're downloading jpegs and
video clips, too. So I don't know how these record companies come up
with these statistics for their complaints, these astronomical estimates
of their losses. When you see these executives and rock stars, they
don't look to me like it's hurting them too badly.
