Nope.
There are no steadfast rules. LCDs are too new on the whole to say if they
break down sooner or later than rear-projection sets (yes they've been
around years, but not enough of 'recent sets' for a quality evaluation).
The 'problem' with rear projection is they are bulky/ugly/awkward monsters.
Apart from that (and sometimes limited viewing angles), they can be a
bargain if you get the right one.
