Thanks again for the reply.

The DSR-45 generates the timeceode. SMPTE timecode and user bits. Not
time of day. The firewire connection between the DSR-45 and my capture
card supports the DSR-45 provided timecode, frame accurate, always has.
It also provides transport control to the deck.

The issue is not one of frame accuracy + or - 1 or 2 frames or
whatever. Its a matter of the deck reading 02:34:45:00 and the Vegas
capture reading 00:00:10:00.

Yes, I hookup component video to the DSR-45 from a DXC-D50 camera triax
CCU which provides component output. This is a moot point. The camera
plays no part in the original timecode generation because it has no
deck. It all starts with the DSR-45, and if I were not trying to make
simultaneous recordings to both the deck and the desktop there would be
no issues.

These DSR-45, 25 Sony decks have a setting that alows it to aquire TC
either from the firewire input or from internal generator. I understand
this operation and can dub DVCam tapes using firewire between decks
with perfect, audio, video and Timecode. I can also dub DVCam tapes
from the DSR-45 to the Vegas 6 capture using firewire as long as I am
in the transport control mode uploading AFTER I have recorded the tape.
This is all frame accurate.

I want the Vegas 6 capture to aquire TC from the DSR-45 firewire
output during a LIVE recording on the DSR-45.
