It's already out for HD DVD as well.

I wouldn't trust BluTurd. They can't even get stamped discs to read
correctly, and you want it to deal with the contrast ration of a
"burned disc"? Sure, bub... You keep thinking they are viable.

You will be able to have the medium as a data storage device. You
will see resistance to any device that would be able to record hi
resolution media. That's precisely why all analog links are scaled
down.
