I recently bought a Pioneer DVR-540H Hard Disk DVD Recorder. It has one
major drawback. It wont play any DVDs that I copy or create using my PC. The
manual has the following statement:
PC-created disc compatibility - Discs recorded using a personal computer may
not be playable in this unit due to the setting of the application software
used to create the disc. In these particular instances, check with the
software publisher for more detailed information. Discs recorded in packet
write mode (UDF format) are not compatible with this recorder. Check the
DVD-R/-RW or CD-R/-RW software disc boxes for additional compatibility
information.
My PC is a Compaq Presario V4002AP running Windows XP Home. The three
programs that I have tried so far are Nero Version 6, WinDVD Creator and
Sonic Record Now. I've tried copying the disc and also burning an image but
no luck. I also tried using Windows Explorer to directly copy the file
structure onto the DVD but the results were the same. All of my attempts
will playback on my PC and on other DVD players but just not on the Pioneer.
Can anyone offer any help? I don't want to but another burning program when
I already have three.
