Just to add a note to my previous rant, and in case anyone takes my
cynical irony for a declaration of support for our Bush/Blair
governments strategies and tactics, I certainly don't. There can only
ever be one solution to this clash of civilisations and that's through a
critical degree of mutual respect and the application of fair play.
Education and enlightened exploration of truth being fundamental. The
principal of 'Do as you would be done by' being equally important. One
sidedness, selfishness and hypocrisy, on both sides, need mitigating.
One thing that is now very clear, the possession of the best arms is
never going to provide sufficient superiority to ensure a secure
victory, and the enormous disproportion of carnage death and destruction
(over a quarter of a million people in the Muslim world have now been
killed by the Anglo American alliance, the great majority of them
civilians) consequent to our attempts to win such an unobtainable
victory can only lead to a scenario where things get worse. Clearly it's
time to do some sustainable deals.
