A lot would depend upon the VHS recorder, and your tolerance to digital
artifacts such as blocking, which are very noticeable/annoying in the 6
hour mode on DVD recorders. My old Sony SLV-595HF VHS deck was capable
of far better image quality at the 6 hour speed than any DVD recorder
that I've seen to date.
