You must totally misunderstand the routine involved in erasing tapes with a
bulk eraser then. It works great for me. You have to work the unit in a
circular fashion right against the shell of the tape and then while pulling
the unit slowly away from the tape, let go of the button once you have the
unit approximately 2 feet away.
