Just VirtualDub for that too - Edit menu -> Set Selection Start (or
press Home key), then move slider, Edit -> Set Selection End (or press
End key). The Save-As AVI (as before) to trim the video.

As you now know 2 useful techniques with VDub, it's worth spending an
afternoon with the online / integrated help to discover quite how
poerful it is for a freeware <g>
