Can't say I have had any special problems with the Sony drive.

It is a relatively new disk made by HP.

OK. I downloaded Ripit4me, along with FixVTS, and I already had the DVD
shrink program.
Numerous warnings about damaged sectors came up, but since the DVD appeared
to be scratch
free and undamaged, I just went ahead with the one click mode, and wrote
everything to the
hard drive. Although I didn't specify it, the result was 5 VTS files and 2
each of the backup and
info files. I went to Nero and asked that these files be burned to a DVD.
Nero asked me to
'add' in the files to burn. I wasn't sure where to put the info and backup
files or to include both
copies (two different sizes for each), so I put them at the front. The
result was 7 disjoint files on
the burned DVD. Nero broke up the 5 video files into 'audio' and 'video'
files. Seemed like the
video files contained the audio and the video. Question is how to get a
SINGLE movie on the DVD
that is all connected together, and should I include the backup and info
files since Nero said they
should be included? The individual 5 video files played ok, but I haven't
done a detailed check
to see if everything is intact.
The original DVD had 4,597 Mbytes of data, while the burned DVD had 3,121
Mbytes of data.
I am guessing that most of this reduction is due to DVD shrink, but some of
it may have been bad
sectors thrown out. Hopefully, this reduction will not affect the quality of
the burned video.
